Very similar to the previous version, the new Suzuki GSX-R1000 2012, however, differ from the previous model at first sight by two details: the exhaust silencer, and the Monoblock Brembo radial calipers fitted for the first time a Japanese Superbike. The exhaust together with other details can bring down the weight. new 2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000 is 2 kg lighter then his predecessor.
Small retouching to the four-cylinder in line, as is now current practice for modern engines, the compression ratio has been increased from 12,8:1 to 12,9:1. The pistons are lighter (-11%), and cylinders that use larger pentagonal holes to reduce any loss of power.
There are no official numbers regarding power and torque, but knowing our Japanese friends it’ easy to believe that the new 2012 Suzuki GSX-R1000 will have more power.
Regarding the chassis, Suzuki confirms the twin spar aluminium frame and the Showa BPF, but the new superbike will follow the 600 and 750 mounting a Brembo braking system, in this case with the monobloc calipers.
