BMW R 1200 RS ConnectedRide

In the future safety on the road and riding pleasure will depend on the motorcycles ability to communicate with infrastructure as well as with other vehicles. Concerning this in 2016 the Connected Motorcycle Consortium was founded by BMW Motorrad, Honda and Yamaha with the aim of promoting Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems for motorcycles with as many cross-manufacturer standards as possible. A foretaste of what is to come was given by the BMW R 1200 RS ConnectedRide prototype, equipped with an extremely high-precision localisation via D-GNSS (Differential-Global Navigation Satellite System). This device helps to detect the position of the vehicle and warns measures to prevent accidents and dangerous situations. Visit BMW Motorrad at EICMA 2017, Pavilion 13, Booth N60.
