EICMA 2019 becomes the first sustainable automotive show in the world

EICMA is the first trade fair in the world in its sector to be certified ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable event management. This morning, the President of EICMA S.p.A. Andrea Dell’Orto, received the important recognition from the Vice President System Certification TÜV NORD Italy Stefano Porelli at the end of a long route, supported by the company Right Hub, aimed at making the 2019 edition sustainable from the environmental and social points of view. The characteristics of impact in the planning and organization of the event were analysed, including for the purpose of involving and influencing all the participants, starting from visitors, to suppliers, exhibitors, professionals and the media, promoting good practices and behaviour before, during and after EICMA.

For President Dell’Orto, “This certification is the start of a virtuous path, a first very important step which will take our exhibition to proudly be an international landmark in this area as well.” “It is no coincidence,” Dell’Orto continued, “that for this edition we chose Revolutionary Motion as our slogan, because not only the industry with the technological evolution that it is showing contributes to the topic of sustainability revolutionizing the sector, but also its trade fair container, taking on the responsibility to implement and spread the principles of this international standard.”

The visitors to the 77th edition of the International Cycle and Motorcycle Show, taking place until Sunday 10th November at Fiera Milano Rho, will have at their disposal a series of installations of coordinated communication to increase their awareness. In particular, there will be several containers for separated waste, throwing cigarette stubs on the ground is prohibited, and suggestions have been given on how to reach the Show sustainably. Sustainable management, however, also concerns energy efficiency, the health and safety of workers, accessibility of people with disabilities to EICMA and the fight against food waste with the collection of excess produced during the event.

The certification, as stated by Stefano Porelli, Vice President System Certification TÜV NORD Italy is “the result of great commitment and attention to the sustainability of the organizational technical structure, as a founding value and evidence of the path of innovation and continuous improvement of this trade show appointment.
