Twenty years after the prototype that took EICMA 2005 by storm, Ducati revamps its most extreme motorcycle. The new Hypermotard V2 and SP version celebrate two decades of a legend with a brand new formula: less weight, more power, and superbike technology.
The design is a perfect synthesis of past and future. The iconic features remain—the high double exhaust, the double wing tank, the compact rear—but the look is sharper, more robotic, more essential. The V2 SP adds racing details: white forged rims, Öhlins suspension, carbon fender, and a livery celebrating 20 years of the Hyper.
Under the bodywork beats the new 890 cc Ducati V2 twin-cylinder engine, the lightest ever produced by Borgo Panigale (54.4 kg), capable of 120 hp and 94 Nm of torque, with 70% already available at 3,000 rpm. This is thanks to the IVT variable timing system, which guarantees smooth power delivery and immediate response. Thanks to 13 kg less weight (14 for the SP) and shorter gear ratios, the V2 promises explosive acceleration and even more responsive handling.
The aluminum monocoque frame, which integrates the engine as a structural element, is flanked by a double-sided swingarm inspired by the Panigale V4. Adjustable Kayaba suspension (Öhlins on the SP) and new forged wheels improve precision and agility in corners.
The riding position remains true to supermoto style: wide handlebars, narrow bike, and low, non-slip seat. The electronics are top-notch: 6-axis inertial platform, Cornering ABS, Traction Control, Wheelie Control, and four Riding Modes. The new 5" TFT display offers three views, while the SP adds Power Launch and Pit Limiter for track use.
