EICMA MOTOLIVE 2024 - Day 3

The third day of the 81st edition of the International Motorcycle Exhibition gave the public in the MotoLive Arena a show and emotions without stopping, alternating activities within the two areas dedicated to the show and competitions. On the one hand, the freestyle and trial shows to which Maurizio Perin joined with the always spectacular Buggy Back Flip, alternating with stunt-tricksman, on the other hand the achievements of legendary speed and off-road drivers who have put in track in the Champion Charity Race Legend more than 30 titles iridati between MotoGP, SBK and Motocross, challenging for the prize pool offered by EICMA and devolved entirely to ABIO-Association for the Child in Hospital Onlus.

The third EICMA 2024 solidarity event was staged in front of the crowded stands, with the public celebrating its idols, 12 true legends of speed and off-road, including Casey Stoner, Marco Melandri, Loris Capirossi, Stefan Everts, Chicco Chiodi and Alex Puzar who competed in two groups that allowed to select the two finalists. The King of EICMA 2024 title was played by the Australian Troy Bayliss, once World Champion in Superbike and the French Christophe Pourcel, World Champion and American Motocross, With the transalpine who has beaten his rival after defeating in the final respectively Carlos Checa and Joel Smets.

Italian International Supercross 24MX

Filippo Zonta (KTM) wins the Supercross Main Event starting ahead of Paolo Ermini (Husqvarna) and Jimmy Clochet (Honda), with Pablo D'Aniello (Suzuki) and Rudolf Plch (Husqvarna) closing the Superfinal qualifying round. The Veneto consolidates its first place in the standings, rising to 60 points, ahead of D'Aniello and Ermini. In the SX Lite victory for Samuele Bernardini (Honda) who starts in front and dominates the 250-speed heat, finishing ahead of Kevin Cristino (Fantic) and Davide Brandini (KTM), with Edoardo Volpicelli (Husqvarna) and Eugenio Barbaglia (Husqvarna) in the top five of the Superfinal qualifiers. At the end of a nice duel, Bernardini wins the Superfinal by beating Cristino and Plch, giving a surprise result with two enduro riders riding the smaller 250 in the first two places and the Czech first among the 450 drivers. The winner of the Tissot Hole-shot is Ermini who must give in to Bernardini, followed by Zonta and Cristino who take advantage of a problem in Veneto to win the second place in front of Plch, 3° under the checkered flag, with Clochet 4° ahead of Ermini, with Zonta 7°.

In the 65cc, Riccardo Galia (GASGAS) wins the top step of the podium, ahead of Aldo Venturato (KTM) and Nico Giacobbe (KTM). At the start of the Main Event, Giacobbe takes the lead with Galia 2° and Venturato 4°; in the middle of the race, the GASGAS driver takes the lead using a rival’s error, followed by Venturato, with Giacobbe 3° in return. In the championship, Venturato wins the red table and the title with equal points with Giacobbe, with Galia 3°.

The 85cc race was exciting, with Simone Beccari (Husqvarna) taking on Francesco Assini (GASGAS) and Maxim Zimmerman (Husqvarna). The young Czech starts in front of Beccari who takes the lead during the second pass, stretching on the pursuers, with Assini 4° after the start and away from the first two that recovers quickly and engages a nice duel with Zimmerman for the second place. Assini manages to exploit better than the rival doubled closing behind Beccari who confirms in the lead of the championship with full score.

The 125cc Main Event is up to Giorgio Orlando (Yamaha) who with today’s victory wins the title by taking an early race, taking Michael Tocchio (KTM) and Francesco Zodiaco (KTM). At the start of the last heat of the day, Tocchio is in front of everyone, with Zoriaco 4° and Orlando only 5°. The Yamaha driver gives a beautiful performance by getting back to 2nd place after having won on Zoriaco, stitching the gap from Tocchio, passing it in the middle of the race, finishing first under the checkered flag first ahead of Tocchio and Zoriaco, in battle to the end for the second place. In the championship, Tocchio climbs to 3rd place with only 2 lengths behind Andrea De Luca (KTM) 2°.

The MotoLive Day 4, the last of the 2024 edition of EICMA, will see once again the protagonists on track the drivers of Supercross who will compete in the final of the International Supercross 24MX with the drivers of 85cc, 125cc, SX Lite and SX450. On stage and live on Sky Sport from 13.45 also the fourth appointment with the Champion Charity Race, this time in SBK version that will give the emotion of having on track against each other, Superbike drivers like Johnny Rea, Andrea Locatelli, Troy Bayliss and Marco Melandri compete in two-stroke flat track single cylinder.
