On Wednesday, September 2, the new Moto Guzzi factory was officially opened in Mandello del Lario (Lecco).
Behind the legendary red gate on Via Parodi, after almost five years of work and an investment of more than €50 million, the facility has been completely renovated based on a project by architect Greg Lynn. The old central brick buildings have been demolished to make way for a large square. The factory is now almost entirely transparent: from the panoramic terrace, visitors can look directly into the assembly lines and watch mechanics and robots at work. The new automated assembly lines also enable an annual production capacity of more than 30,000 motorcycles. Moto Guzzi has also revamped its in-house museum. The exhibition covers an impressive 3,000 square metres inside a building whose shapes pay tribute to the surrounding mountains and the brand’s stylistic heritage. Its historic collection includes more than 160 restored motorcycles, including the very first G.P. prototype from 1919. Moto Guzzi has also refurbished the famous Wind Tunnel, which now stands as the centrepiece of a second internal square. The site is completed by the Motoplex Store, dedicated to shopping, a café, spaces for workshops and events, and a new auditorium.
