After two revolutionary years, Kawasaki engineers have decided to suspend, at least on a technical level, the development of the KX250 and KX450. The Akashi brand's motocross bikes, therefore, feature no new developments in the new model year. Both bikes retain the liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, lightweight aluminum frame, Showa front suspension and Uni-Track rear suspension, ODI Lock-On grips, and KTRC (Kawasaki Traction Control). The difference between the two models is the Brembo braking system on the 450 cc. The only change is the graphics: the side plastics feature a splash of blue and white to break up the dominance of Kawasaki green.
